The Merkava Mk.4M, an indigenous main battle tank developed and produced by Israel, made its battlefield debut in early 2011. Serving as a pivotal model within the Merkava series, the Mk.4M marks a significant shift from mechanized to information warfare, embodying a futuristic vision with its “Trophy” active protection system and modular armor. Several Israeli armored brigades are equipped with the Merkava Mk.4M tank. During operation “Protecting Edge” in the Gaza strip in 2014, the “Trophy” system was successfully operated in battle for the first time.
